聖ニコラス聖堂の再建復活

新型コロナウイルスの影響で止まっていた聖ニコラス聖堂の再建工事が動き始めたというニュースです。
Today, I was happy to announce that construction of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine in New York City has resumed. As you may remember, the original St. Nicholas Church was completely destroyed in the September 11 attacks.
オリジナルの聖ニコラス聖堂は911の同時多発テロの際に破壊されました。
A new church, inspired by the architecture of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, has been planned for years, but construction had been delayed, most recently due to COVID-19.
新しい聖堂は、イスタンブールのハギヤソフィア（アヤソフィア）に影響を受けた意匠ですが、その建設はコロナで遅れていました。
To me, this church is symbolic of New York’s resilience and perseverance in challenging times. Just like the period following 9/11, we are going to build back better after the crisis.
クモオ知事は、この聖ニコラス聖堂はニューヨークの困難に対するresilience（強靭さ）とpersrvererance（粘り強さ）の象徴だと言います。911の悲劇から復興したようにコロナパンデミックにも打ち勝てると。
We can only succeed together, with everyone’s help. We need to wear masks, stay six feet apart and keep one another safe.
we can only succeed togetherは、「みんなで力を合わせないと成功できない」という意味です。
